Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about ranking, takeovers, outbid alerts, and payments on rankbid.
What is rankbid?
rankbid is a paid leaderboard network where rank is your bid. Products, startups, dev tools, and creators bid in whole USD to secure their position. The board sorts listings strictly by bid descending — higher bid equals higher rank.
How does ranking and bidding work?
Bids start at $1 in whole dollars. When you submit your URL or X @handle with a bid, your listing immediately claims the rank that bid buys. If you later re-enter the same URL or @handle to raise your rank, you only pay the difference between your current bid and your new bid.
Can someone steal my rank by paying my difference?
No. A competitor must place their own full bid to rank above you. Re-entering a URL only raises that specific listing; different products cannot share or steal someone else's accumulated bid balance.
What is a Takeover and how does it lock #1?
Paying 5× the current #1 bid unlocks a 3-hour takeover lock on the top spot. While a takeover is active, no other listing can claim #1. When the 3-hour timer expires, your takeover bid remains as your permanent bid amount, placing you wherever that amount ranks on the board.
What types of links and listings are allowed?
You can list any product website, SaaS, dev tool, content brand, or X (@handle). Chat and invite links (Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, Signal) and misleading redirects are strictly prohibited and subject to removal.
How does click tracking and analytics work?
Every listing click is routed through a fast redirect that logs total clicks, hourly click velocity, and effective cost-per-click ($/click). Destination URLs are kept clean and untouched.
What happens when I get outbid?
When another listing bids past your position, an automated outbid email alert is dispatched to your billing email with a direct link showing exactly how much it costs to raise your bid and retake your rank.
How are payments handled?
All payments are processed securely via Stripe Checkout. Listings and raises go live automatically via real-time webhooks as soon as payment is confirmed.
